The Scandinavian Studies and History of Art BA at UCL is a four-year degree programme that combines Scandinavian language, culture, and society, with the study of Western European and global art from the Middle Ages to the present day, with a year abroad in Scandinavia in year three.Course Content: The degree course focuses on the study of history and culture of the Scandinavian region (Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, and Finland) from the Viking Age to the present day. It provides an in-depth understanding of the medieval world, Scandinavian arts and literature, cinema and drama, alongside gaining proficiency in a Scandinavian language. The Intensive Language pathway allows beginners or near beginners in the chosen language to start at the appropriate level, with fast progression after the first year.
