The Italian and Latin BA course at University College London is a unique degree program that combines the study of Italian language, literature, and culture with the exploration of Latin language and classical literature. This immersive, four-year course enables students to gain comprehensive knowledge of Italian culture and society, as well as Latin language and the literature of the classical world.Course Content: The Italian and Latin BA course offers a wide-ranging study of Italian culture and history in all its many forms from the medieval period to the present day. Students will learn to understand and speak Italian to a high level of proficiency. The program includes a year abroad where students will become immersed in Italian life and culture. The Latin side of the program offers a detailed study of Latin language and literature, with an emphasis on translation skills. Key Modules: Key modules in this course include: Introduction to Italian Literature, Italy: The History of an Idea, Authorship in Italy, From Roman Empire to Renaissance: Latin Classicism and its Reception, Rome to Renaissance: The Transformation of Traditional Thought, and Latin for Beginners.
