The Hungarian and Romanian BA is a three-year course offered by University College London (UCL). Geared towards beginners, this programme provides students the opportunity to follow an integrated study pathway for Hungarian and Romanian languages, cultures, and history. The aim is to achieve advanced fluency in both languages and enriched understanding of their societies.Course Content: Students will gain an understanding of all four core aspects of Hungarian and Romanian (speaking, listening, reading, writing) and will explore a broad range of topics such as history, literature, cinema, and popular culture across the two countries. In addition, they will also spend a year abroad to immerse themselves in Hungary and Romania's language and culture. Key Modules: Some key course modules include Language, Identity, Power; From Empire to EU; and Nationalism, Passions and Interests. Along with these, a year abroad to study Hungarian and Romanian cultures, languages, literature and history in local institutions is mandatory. Future Careers: This programme prepares graduates for careers in international relations, media, tourism, business, publishing and culture. Additional postgraduate study can also be pursued in areas such as linguistics, film, history, literature, or continuing with language learning or translations.
