The French and Swedish BA degree offered by the University College London (UCL) is a four-year programme that provides students with the unique opportunity to study both the French and Swedish languages, and to learn about the history, society, and culture of the countries where these languages are spoken. UCL's School of European Languages, Culture, and Society is recognized for its wide-ranging expertise in these fields. Course Content: The course involves four years of study, the third of which is usually completed abroad, in a French and Swedish-speaking country. Prior to this year abroad, students will have studied both languages in detail, reaching an advanced level in both, along with learning about the societies and cultures of both countries, encompassing a choice of modules. Students will return for the final year to refine their language skills and complete their studies in culture and society. In addition, there is an opportunity to study a minor subject for the first two years. Key Modules: Key modules vary from year to year, but may include 'Modern France: Society, Culture, Politics', 'History of the French Language', 'French Literature: Texts and Contexts', 'Reviewing Arts and Culture in France', 'Contemporary Swedish Culture and Society', 'Swedish Literature: Texts and Interpretation', and 'Swedish Politics and Social Policies'.
