The French and Portuguese BA at UCL offers students an in-depth and interdisciplinary exploration of both French and Portuguese cultures and languages. This course not only covers the linguistic elements, but also delves into history, literature, cinema, politics, and more in both French and Lusophone world. The course allows students to spend their third year abroad in French and Portuguese-speaking countries, furthering their study and experience.Course Content: The curriculum incorporates language modules where you can begin learning Portuguese at beginner's level and French from beginners to advanced levels. Students also study modules centered around French and Francophone culture and society, including its cinema, literature and history. Additionally, Portuguese modules introduce students to the culture, literature and history of Portugal and the Lusophone world. The third year is spent abroad to strengthen language skills and cultural understanding. Key Modules: Some of the significant modules in this course include 'Introduction to French Cinema', 'France in the World: Identity and Empire', 'French Language', 'Introduction to Portuguese and Francophone Studies', and 'Portuguese Language'.Future Careers: Graduates from this course can pursue careers in many different fields such as international organizations, business, law, teaching, journalism, marketing, finance, government service, and non-governmental organizations.
