The French and Polish BA at the University College London (UCL) is a four-year undergraduate course enabling students to master the French and Polish language at a high level while getting acquainted with varying aspects of French-speaking and Polish cultures. The course will extend the student's capacities in the two languages they will be studying. They will acquire the ability to understand complex arguments, independent thinking and critical analysis, presentation and communication skills, and gain the self-discipline and self-reliance developed by working independently and as part of a team.Course Content: The course is divided into equal parts, focusing on the French and Polish language. The first year introduces fundamental elements of the languages, along with other aspects of the culture, history and literature of France and Poland. The second and third years consolidate and refine the linguistic skills in both languages. The student's understanding of the language is further deepened by spending a year abroad in France or a French-speaking country, and Poland. In the final year, students cover both languages at a complex level and present a dissertation in one of the languages.Key Modules: The course encompasses modules such as French Language, Polish Language, French Literature, Polish History, Introduction to French Studies, Introduction to Polish Studies, Advanced French Translation and Advanced Polish Studies.
