The Finnish and Swedish BA programme offered by University College London (UCL) gives students the opportunity to study Finnish and Swedish to a high standard whilst gaining an understanding of the cultures of the Nordic countries. Being a wide core programme, it includes the study of literature, history, politics and society. Course Content: In the first year, students mainly focus on learning the Finnish and Swedish languages. Years two and three allow for further language learning combined with modules in literature, history, politics and culture. Courses are taught through a mixture of lectures, seminars, and small-group language classes.Key Modules: The course covers a variety of modules including 'Finnish Language', 'Swedish Language', 'Introduction to Finnish Culture', and 'Introduction to Nordic Culture' in the first year. In the second and third years, students have the opportunity to choose from a wide range of option modules such as 'Modern Swedish Literature', 'Finnish Folklore and Mythology', 'Modern Finnish Literature', 'Gender and Equality in the Nordic Countries' and many others.
