BA Finnish and Serbian/Croatian

The Finnish and Serbian/Croatian BA course offered by University College London (UCL) is a unique four-year program that encompasses an immersive study into the culture, history, literature, and linguistics of both Finland and the regions where Serbian and Croatian are spoken. Course Content: The course begins with an integrative approach, equipping students with crucial linguistic skills in both Finnish and Serbian/Croatian languages. In later years, students can choose to prioritise one language over another. The program also incorporates a year-abroad scheme in the third year to enable students to experience these cultures first-hand in either Finland or Serbia and Croatia.Key Modules: Key study areas include Finnish Grammar and Texts, Serbian/Croatian Grammar and Texts, Introduction to the Study of Language, and Serbo-Croat Poetry and Drama. Other subject areas explore Finnish history from the 19th Century to the present day and the Literature and Cinema of the countries that speak these languages.Future Careers: This course prepares students for a wide variety of careers, including roles in international organisations, the EU, the media, and the managerial business sector.
