BA Czech and Polish

The Czech and Polish BA degree at University College London (UCL) is a comprehensive course that focuses on the languages, literature, history, culture, and politics of the Czech Republic and Poland. This course is for students who want to embrace and understand the cultures of Central Europe and offers a unique opportunity to learn about the region's history, literature, and identity. Course Content: The course offers four study pathways; Language & Culture, History, Literature, and Politics. The core element of the programme allows students to build strong language skills in both Czech and Polish while the different pathways offer a deeper study of specific elements of the two cultures. Students have the opportunity to spend their third year abroad, studying at a university in the Czech Republic or Poland. Key Modules: Core modules include Czech Language, Polish Language, and Dissertation in Czech and/or Polish. Optional modules available to students depending on their chosen pathway include, amongst others, Czech Literature, Modern Polish Literature, Central European History, and Politics of Central and Eastern Europe. Future Careers: Graduates of the Czech and Polish BA have moved on to successful careers in the media, international organisations, finance, public service, teaching, translation, academia, and publishing.
