The Archaeology with a Year Abroad BA course at UCL provides students with the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of archaeology while spending a year living and studying in another country. It offers students the chance to engage in fieldwork and laboratory analysis, directing their studies towards the archaeological periods and themes that interest them the most, including the archaeology of the Mediterranean world, science in archaeology, and public archaeology.Course Content: The course offers students a well-rounded understanding of archaeological approaches, methods, and theories, and allows them to specialize in areas of their choice. The content covers archaeological periods from the Palaeolithic through to the contemporary world. Modules are supplemented by practicals in the archaeology student laboratories and optional courses offered by other UCL departments. Students will also get an opportunity to study at one of the university's many international partners in year 3 of the course.Key Modules: The key modules of the course include ‘World Archaeology’, ‘Archaeological Techniques', 'Themes, Thought and Theory in World Archaeology', ‘Field Methods in Archaeology’, ‘Mediterranean Archaeology’, ‘Science in Archaeology’, ‘Materials in Archaeology’ and 'Public Archaeology'.Future Careers: This course equips students to pursue careers in a wide range of fields such as the heritage sector, teaching, media, and publishing.
