The MChem Chemistry for Drug Discovery course at the University of Bath provides an understanding of the chemical principles that underpin drug discovery and development. This cutting-edge course combines traditional teaching methods with hands-on experience in research and industry settings. Developed in response to industrial needs for graduates who can apply chemical knowledge to drug discovery, it prepares students for a career in the pharmaceutical industry, or for undertaking a PhD.Course Content: The course offers an understanding of the chemistry and mechanisms of drug actions, governance in drug discovery and medicinal chemistry, drug design and optimisation, practical synthesis and characterization as well as the fundamentals of cancer chemotherapy. First two years allow to build a strong foundation in different areas of chemistry.
