The BSc Mathematics and Physics with Professional Placement or Study Abroad at the University of Bath offers students the opportunity to study a solid foundation of mathematics and its application in physics. This course is designed for students who wish to gain a comprehensive understanding of the mathematical methods and concepts that underpin modern physics, and the practical skills that are used by working physicists.Course Content: Students will study areas of mathematics and physics in the first two years such as quantum mechanics, thermodynamics, and mathematical proofs and structures. In the final year, students can specialize in their areas of interest in either mathematics or physics. Students will also have the opportunity to undertake a professional placement or study abroad in the third year, which offers them the opportunity to implement their knowledge in a real-world context.Key Modules: Modules include Mathematical Methods, Experimental Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Proofs and Structures.Accreditations: This course is accredited by the Institute of Physics (IOP).Future Careers: Graduates often proceed to many different careers ranging from research in academia or industry, software development, and information technology, through to finance and management roles, both in the public and private sector.
