BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering

The BEng Civil Engineering course, offered by the University of Bath, brings theoretical and practical teaching together to equip you with the skills you need to make a difference to the world around you. The course is designed to help you gain a broad understanding of civil engineering principles and practice. It couples intensive teaching with extensive amounts of project-based work, aiming to make you confident in both theory and practice.Course Content: During the first two years, you will study a set of core units covering important civil engineering subjects. This provides the base understanding you will require to start specialising in areas you are particularly interested in. In the final year, you choose from a range of optional units to prescribe your own study depending on your career or study interests. Optional units are chance to delve into a subject of interest in great depth.Key Modules: The course includes several modules such as Structural Analysis, Fluid Mechanics, Highway Engineering, and Infrastructure Design, among others. In the final year, you will also complete an individual project or dissertation in a subject area you're passionate about. To succeed, you need to apply the technical skills and methods you have learnt during the previous years and combine them with your own ideas.Accreditations: The course is accredited as fully satisfying the educational base for an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) and also partially satisfying the educational base for a Chartered Engineer (CEng).Future Careers: Graduates of the BEng Civil Engineering course often work as engineers in major infrastructure projects, in sectors ranging from transport to energy.
