BSc (Hons) Midwifery

The BSc Midwifery course at the University of Suffolk supports individuals to become competent beginners in midwifery practice. The program is available on a full-time basis for three years and promises an excellent learning experience with high-quality teaching in a positive learning environment. Course Content: The programme combines theory and practice in an even way so that learning in one area reinforces the other. It covers a range of subjects like Human Biology, Pharmacology, Sociology and Psychology applied to Midwifery and more. It aims to develop skills and competency in antenatal, labour and postnatal care of women and their babies both in the hospital and community settings. Key Modules: Key modules include Introduction to Professional Practice for midwives, Interpersonal Skills, Reproductive Sciences and Childbirth, Pharmacology in Childbearing, Midwifery Practice and many more. Accreditations: The course is validated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), which upon successful completion of the course allows individuals to apply for registration as a Midwife with the NMC. Future Careers: Career opportunities after completion of the course might include roles in clinical practice, research, education or management either within the UK or overseas.
