MA Creative Writing

The MA in Creative Writing by Swansea University is a highly flexible programme designed for writers who wish to explore, experiment and develop their own writing skills in a creative and supportive environment. The course offers students the unique opportunity to enhance their creative, critical and professional skills using a combination of taught modules and individual study. Course Content: Through various phases of the course, students will engage in wide-ranging and innovative approaches to the practice of creative writing. The course integrates literary theory in its unique approach to creative writing, providing students with new ways of understanding and appreciating the craft. Small poetry, non-fiction, or fiction workshops form the heart of the student's work experience.Key Modules: The course consists of three main parts. A 60-credit core module introduces the study of Creative Writing and English Literature in the first part. The second part comprises of two optional 30-credit modules from a range of offerings. Following this, the third part of the course is dedicated to a Dissertation or Portfolio where students will create a significant piece of creative writing.Future Careers: This course prepares students for a host of future career opportunities such as fiction and non-fiction writers, poets, scriptwriters, editors, reviewers or commentators.
