LLM Legal Practice and Advanced Drafting

The LLM in Legal Practice and Advanced Drafting is a one-year full-time postgraduate course offered by Swansea University. This course provides a unique blend of theory and practice, aiming to deepen the understanding of law in its historical and societal context. Utilising a case-study approach, students will learn both the academic and practical aspects of law, focusing on the application of law to real-life situation.Course Content: The content of this course is primarily designed to hone research skills, advance legal drafting and expand knowledge in specialized areas of law. The program will balance theoretical research with practical experience, introducing students to research methodology and providing an opportunity for an extended practical exercise in drafting.Key Modules: The course contains five compulsory modules: 'Nature of Legal Obligations,' 'Property and Trusts Law,' 'Criminal Law,' 'Public Law,' and 'European Law.' Additionally, it features two optional modules from a selection including 'Applied Business Law and Practice,' 'Civil Litigation and Dispute Resolution,' 'Employment Law: Rights and Obligations,' and others.Accreditations: The LLM in Legal Practice and Advanced Drafting is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and the Bar Standards Board (BSB).Future Careers: This course provides an excellent stepping stone for careers in law, whether in private practice, public service or academia.
