BEng (Hons) Biomedical Engineering

The Biomedical Engineering (BEng) programme at Swansea University is a versatile and evolving discipline that applies engineering principles to the broad field of health care. In this four-year course, students are challenged with real-world applications that bridge the gap between engineering and medicine.Course Content: The course encompasses a wide range of topics, including the design and operation of prosthetics, medical devices, diagnostic machines, and health management and care systems. It takes a hands-on approach, featuring significant practical and lab work. Key Modules: Students will be exposed to key modules such as biology for engineers, calculus, engineering analysis, and mechanics for engineers. Accreditations: This course is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), and the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED) on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as an Incorporated Engineer and partly meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer.Future Careers: The BEng Biomedical Engineering programme at Swansea University would prepare students for future careers or further study within the biomedical engineering and health care sectors. The skills learned are in very high demand in a wide variety of sectors and applications.
