BA Hons Modern Languages with Education

The BA in Modern Languages, Translation and Interpreting at Swansea University is a full-time undergraduate course designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for successful careers in translation, interpreting, education, or any profession where advanced knowledge of languages is useful. The course enables students to become proficient in at least two languages apart from English and gain a thorough understanding of the cultures, economies, histories, politics, and literature associated with these languages.Course Content: The course covers the theory and practice of translation and interpreting, the principles of language learning, as well as key aspects of French, German, Italian, Spanish or Welsh culture, history, politics, and society. Other modules explore aspects of education, including learning, teaching, and educational policies and practices.Key Modules: Key modules on offer include Introduction to Translation and Interpreting, Language of Business and Current Affairs, Modern European Film, Principles of Translation and Interpreting, Translation Technologies, Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) and Advanced Translation (languages-specific).Accreditations: The course is accredited by the British Council for Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) which enables students to teach English anywhere in the world after graduation.Future Careers: Graduates can work in various sectors such as education, translation, public service interpreting, postgraduate study or further professional training.
