BSc (Hons) Design Engineering

The BSc (Hons) in Design Engineering at Bournemouth University is a full-time, three-year course that applies engineering principles to create engaging design solutions. It combines sound technical knowledge with creative problem-solving skills to enable students to develop innovative products, systems and services.Course Content: The course provides hands-on practical experience in designing, modelling, prototyping and testing, coupled with creative thinking and problem-solving approaches. Students will learn about material properties and behaviour, manufacturing process selection, mechanics and electronic systems. The course includes a one-year placement scheme to gain real-world professional experience. Key Modules: This course includes a variety of core modules such as Introduction to Design & Engineering, Materials & Manufacturing, Mechanics 1, Creative Software Tools, Electronic Systems Principles, Design & Prototyping, Industrial Design & Engineering, and Engineering in Context. Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) under license from the UK regulator, the Engineering Council.
