The Environmental Sciences BSc (Hons) at the University of Brighton is a full-time, three-year undergraduate course. This course takes an integrated approach to studying the environment, combining insights from the physical, chemical, and biological sciences. It also offers the opportunity to take an optional placement year in year 3, helping students to gain important work experience.Course Content: The course includes the study of air, water, soil, and life, and how they interact with each other. A range of topics relating to environmental sciences are covered, such as climate change, ecology, geology, and pollution. Furthermore, the course enables students to acquire the skills necessary to process and interpret data using modern methods and software.Key Modules: The course comprises several modules including Climate Change Science and Policy, Ecology and Conservation, Geology, and Pollution Science. They also pick from options including Marine Ecology Field Studies and Earth Systems.Accreditations: The course is accredited by The Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES) and The Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM). This means graduates are eligible to become associate members of the IES and have the foundations to work towards chartership status with both IES and CIWEM.Future Careers: Potential careers after completion of the course include environmental consultant, nature conservation officer, recycling officer, sustainability consultant, water quality scientist and ecological consultant.
