The Civil Engineering with Construction Management BEng(Hons) offered at the University of Brighton combines elements of civil engineering and building management to equip students with the skills needed to manage construction projects from idea to reality. The course offers a sound grounding in structural, geotechnical and water engineering, with unique modules, project management and IT skills.Course Content: The course enables the students to design structural elements, understand soil mechanics, understand fluid mechanics and hydrology, understand sustainability and the environment, learn to design an infrastructure project, learn project management for construction, and develop their research skills. It provides a comprehensive overview of the role of the civil engineer within the construction industry, focusing on ensuring that the infrastructure around us gets developed, is safe, meets our needs, and improves our quality of life. Key Modules: Some of the key modules that the students will be learning in the course are: Project Management for Construction, Design of Structural Elements, Soil Mechanics and Geotechnics, Fluid Mechanics and Hydrology, plus an option to do a research project or dissertation in the final year.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Institution of Structural Engineers, the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transport, and the Institute of Highway Engineers on behalf of the Engineering Council.
