The BSc Human Biosciences course at Coventry University offers an in-depth study of the human body, at molecular, cellular and systems level, with optional modules in topics ranging from public health, nutrition, immunology, pharmacology, and lifestyle diseases. This full-time, three-year course is designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue a career in biosciences.Course Content: The course is divided into three years of study. The first year provides a foundational understanding of human physiology, cell biology, biochemistry, and genetics. As students progress through the second and third years, they will experience a greater focus on the biomedical sciences, such as systems physiology, molecular cell biology, medical genetics and numerous optional modules which could include pharmacology, nutrition or public health.Key Modules: Some of the main modules included in the course curriculum are Cell and Molecular Biology, Human Biochemistry and Metabolism, Systems Physiology, Analytical Techniques and Data Analysis, Analytical Sciences and Research Methods, and Pharmacology for Allied Health.Accreditations: This course is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology (RSB) for the purpose of meeting the education requirement for Registered Scientist (RSci).Future Careers: The course enables future careers in areas like NHS and private pathology labs, pharmaceutical and biotech companies, research institutions, and health and safety agencies.
