The Biomedical Engineering BEng (Hons) at Aston University is a full-time, three-year course aimed at providing students with comprehensive understanding of biomedical engineering. The course combines the key principles of engineering with medical sciences to design and create equipment, devices, computer systems, and software used in healthcare. Course Content: During the course, students get to study a mix of core and optional modules across all years. In the first year, students are introduced to fundamental topics in biomedical engineering and are provided with a solid foundation in mathematics and engineering principles. The second year focuses more on the application of these basic principles to solve healthcare problems. The third year includes modules more specialised to the field of biomedical engineering. Key Modules: Some of the key modules include Solid Biomechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Human Physiology and Anatomy for Engineers, Medical Electronics and Instrumentation, Biocompatibility and Tissue Engineering, Imaging and Rehabilitation Engineering.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as an Incorporated Engineer and partly meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer.Future Careers: This degree prepares students for a wide range of careers in industries such as pharmaceuticals, healthcare, prosthetics, and beyond. Job roles could include Biomedical Engineer, Clinical Engineer, Rehabilitation Engineer, Technical Medicine Engineer, and many more. For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
