The History and English BSc course offered by Aston University is a fully integrated and equally weighted degree that will enhance your understanding of the world around you. The range of modules in this unique course allows students to approach the history and English disciplines in a variety of ways with elements of digital history, literary history, medieval times, romanticism, and modern contemporary culture.Course Content: The course combines the study of History and English in equal parts. The integration of subjects gives the students a rich understanding of historical events, visual culture, and the literary works that shaped our society. The first year provides a foundation for further study in historical methods, reading English, whilě the subsequent years delve deeper into the core and optional modules.Key Modules: The key modules in this course include: study of Britain since 1900; Twentieth-century US history; the Victorian period; Romantic Literature; Victorian Literature; post-colonial literature; history of science, technology; and the environment; race & ethnicity in American literature and culture; Modern European history; and the study of the British Empire.Future Careers: With the wide range of transferable skills developed, graduates from the History and English BSc course are well-equipped for a variety of careers. This includes journalism, marketing, teaching, and roles in the government sector.
