BEng (Hons) Yacht and Powercraft Design

The Yacht and Powercraft Design BEng (Hons) course at Solent University is a program designed for students aspiring to work in yacht and powercraft design. With a blend of theoretical and practical work, this course provides the skills and understanding needed to design beautiful, effective, and innovative craft from the ground up. Course Content: The course offers a thorough understanding about yacht and small craft technology, including naval architecture, structures, propulsion and others related to the marine industry. These industry-based subjects are supplemented by more general engineering subjects such as CAD, mathematics and project management.Key Modules: The key modules of the course are Yacht Design, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Mathematics for Engineers, Small Craft Technology, Structural Mechanics, Project Management, and Individual Project (Dissertation).Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) and the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), which provides students with a pathway to gain Chartered Engineer status.Future Careers: After successfully completing the course, graduates have found employment in a range of industry roles, including design consultants, boat builders, super yacht builders, equipment manufacturers, and design software providers, among others.
