The Fine Art BA course at Southampton Solent University is designed to be intense, stimulating and forward-thinking, encouraging students to establish their own artistic and creative identity whilst being mindful of the wider cultural, social and historical context. It aims to develop students' critical and conceptual thinking, exploring professional art practices, potential audiences and markets. Course Content: The course empowers students to gain expertise in drawing, painting, sculpture, digital photography, printmaking, video and sound. It incorporates mandatory units on professional practice, understanding & harnessing emerging trends as well as elective units on abstracting, digital images and individual practices amongst others. Group critiques, one-on-one tutorials and field trips advance furthermore your knowledge and understanding of the discipline.Key Modules: The course includes key modules such as Developing Fine Art I, II, & III; Professional Practice for Fine Art; Critical & Contextual Studies I, II, & III; and several optional ones like 'Abstracting - Questions of Abstraction', 'Site & Architectural Space' and 'The Fashioned Body'.Accreditations: The course is fully accredited by the Southampton Solent University.Future Careers: After obtaining their degree, students can expect to find work in a variety of fields such as art direction, exhibition coordination, illustration, photography, art therapy, the media and teaching.
