MA Fine Art

The Fine Art MA at the University of Northampton is a forward-thinking course that encourages students to experiment, risk, explore and develop an independent practice while also engaging in a critical dialogue with wider issues in society. The course is inclusive of all forms of Fine Art practice and celebrates its diversity.Course Content: The course offers a range of modules covering contemporary art practice, professional practice and arts-based research. It includes workshops, presentations, debates, group work, tutorials and lectures, making use of the excellent facilities available. In addition, the course has a strong focus on research and professional practice, which underpin all aspects of the programme.Key Modules: Some of the key modules of the course include 'Studio Practice', where students develop their own independent art practice; 'Contemporary Art', an exploration of the theoretical and critical issues in contemporary art; 'Professional Legacy', where students engage in self-initiated research to develop professional practice and 'Fine Art Research Project', where students undertake an extended, self-directed research project.Future Careers: The MA Fine Art course will prepare you for a career as a professional artist and for other related professional roles, such as curator, facilitator, technician or researcher.
