The BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy course at the University of Northampton is a full-time, three-year course. It is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a registered occupational therapist. The course explores the concepts of occupational science and occupational therapy. It is designed to provide students with the theoretical knowledge and practical experience necessary to meet the demands of contemporary occupational therapy practice.Course Content: The course content covers areas such as occupational science, occupational therapy theory and practice, interprofessional working, and holistic, client-centered care. Students have the opportunity to explore therapy in a variety of settings, including clinics, hospitals, schools, and community settings. Key Modules: Key modules in the course include: Foundations of Occupational Therapy, Foundations of Occupational Science, Enabling Occupation, Lifespan Studies, Occupational Performance, Mental Health and Well-being, Professional Reasoning, and Research Inquiry in Practice.Accreditations: This course is approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT). Completion of the course allows students to apply to the HCPC for registration to practice as an occupational therapist in the UK.Future Careers: Graduates from this course can expect to gain employment in a variety of settings within the NHS, social care, and the independent sector.
