The BSc (Hons) Marine & Freshwater Biology at Edinburgh Napier University is a full-time undergraduate program that aims to impart knowledge and skills about the diverse range of organisms that inhabit our oceans and freshwater bodies. The course seeks to enable students to understand critical issues such as biodiversity, conservation, and the impact of climate change to equip them with practical skills needed for the sector.Course Content: The course includes a broad learning spectrum providing knowledge of a diverse range of marine and freshwater organisms along with the understanding of critical issues such as species biodiversity, climate change impacts on marine and freshwater environments as well as conservation measures. It also contends ample opportunities to gain practical skills through field trips, workshops, and laboratory-based sessions. Key Modules: Key modules of the course include Molecular Techniques, Environmental Physiology of Animals, Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems, Biological Biodiversity, Environmental Impact Assessment, and Conservation and Wildlife Management. Accreditations: This course is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology for the purpose of meeting in part the academic and experience requirement for the Membership and Chartered Biologist (CBiol). Future Careers: This course prepares students for a range of careers in aquatic conservation, fisheries and aquaculture, environmental consultancy, governmental agencies, or research and teaching. It also equips students to progress to for postgraduate studies within the field of marine and freshwater biology.
