The BSc (Hons) Medical Biology course is a full-time, three-year program offered by the University of Bolton. It focuses on equipping students with essential knowledge and understanding of the human body, diseases, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures that medical biologists work with.Course Content: The course encompasses a wide range of subjects starting from understanding the human body, its functions at the molecular, cell, and systemic levels, diseases and their causes, checks and balances that the body has in place and the interactions between the body and the external environment. Students also get to learn about the varied range of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures that medical biologists perform.Key Modules: During the three years, students go through modules that help develop their understanding and skills. These modules include Cellular Biochemistry and Microbiology in year one, Systems Physiology, and Molecular Diagnostics in year two, and Clinical Biochemistry, Pathophysiology, and a research project in year three.Future Careers: On successful completion of this course, graduates can aim for careers in medical laboratories, research institutes, and pharmaceutical companies to name a few. With subsequent training, they can consider areas such as a biomedical scientist in a hospital laboratory, research scientist in a university or research institute, a sales representative, or a technical specialist within a diagnostic or pharmaceutical company.
