The BA in Ancient History at the University of Kent is designed for students passionate about the ancient world and its civilizations. This course guides to understand ancient civilizations such as Greece, Rome, Egypt, and the Near East through literary, archaeological, and historical evidence along with cultural interchange between the classical civilizations and their neighbors.Course Content: The course covers the history and culture of ancient civilizations including Greece and Rome, as well as other civilizations such as Egypt and the Near East. Students develop abilities to critically evaluate and interpret historical evidence and understand cultural interchange between classical civilizations and their neighbors. The teaching methodology includes lectures, seminars, and one-to-one tutorials. There are internship opportunities, and study abroad options in third-year at partner universities in the US and Europe. Key Modules: Some of the indicative modules include ‘The World of Late Antiquity: the global challenge’, ‘Greek Literature and Society’, ‘Roman Literature and Society’, ‘Discovering Archaeology’, ‘Art and Society in the Greek World’ and ‘Art and Society in the Roman World’. Future Careers: Graduates can move on to roles in areas such as teaching, accountancy, law, the civil service, business and finance, and journalism.
