The Satellite Data Science MSc at the University of Leicester offers students an opportunity to learn about the technical side of managing and processing satellite data and extracting useful information from it. This course is suitable for candidates with a good first degree in any one of a number of disciplines spanning the physical sciences, mathematics, computing and engineering.Course Content: The course comprises of both taught modules and a dissertation project. The taught modules will allow the students to learn about space weather, space instrument design, and the ways in which computers can help us to analyse and model natural systems. The dissertation project will involve either developing new ways to use satellite data to monitor the environment or building and testing a new piece of technology for space exploration.Key Modules: Some of the modules you will study include Space Instrumentation and Satellite Data Analysis, Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing, Mathematical Modelling with MATLAB, Space Weather: Impacts and Predictions, and The Physical Principles of Remote Sensing.Accreditations: Not available.Future Careers: This MSc will equip students with the technical know-how to start or continue a career in space research. This course is also an excellent preparation for a PhD, particularly in areas related to remote sensing or environmental monitoring. For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
