MA Modern and Contemporary Literature (and optional Creative Writing)

The Modern Literature and Creative Writing MA course offered by the University of Leicester explores the reading, writing, and criticism of modern literature in English. This course allows you to develop critical engagement on a wide range of modern and contemporary literature while honing your own creative writing skills within a community of award-winning writers and around your own interests in writing.Course Content: The course consists of taught modules (120 credits) followed by a supervised dissertation (60 credits) in the summer. The taught part of the course is tailored towards your choice of emphasis — Modern Literature or Creative Writing. While participating in the Modern Literature emphasis, students have a chance to study diverse range of modern and contemporary writing. Students on the Creative Writing emphasis will concentrate on producing a substantial piece of their own creative work.
