BSc Diagnostic Radiography

The Diagnostic Radiography BSc course at the University of Leicester is a three-year degree course that prepares students to become a diagnostic radiographer, a key role in health care. The course uses a variety of teaching methods including seminars, clinical placements, and practical workshops spread throughout the three years of study. Course Content: The course covers a wide range of topics including human anatomy, pathology, radiation physics and protection, patient care, and image interpretation. The first year of study focuses on the basic principles of radiography, such as imaging technology, anatomy, physiology, and health care ethics. The second year delves deeper into advanced imaging techniques, including computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In the final year, students undertake a research project and specialise in areas like cross-sectional imaging, social policy or education in practice. Key Modules: The key modules that the students will explore during the course include Radiographic Imaging, Anatomical Imaging, Research Skills for Radiographers, Imaging Pathology, and Professional Practice.Accreditations: This course is accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Society of Radiographers (SoR). Moreover, upon successful completion of the course, students will be eligible to apply for registration with the HCPC as a Diagnostic Radiographer.Future Careers: This program equips its graduates for a rewarding career in healthcare. A majority of graduates from this course go on to work as diagnostic radiographers within the NHS.
