The BSc Zoology course offered by the University of Leicester aims to provide students with in-depth knowledge of a wide range of animals, both vertebrates and invertebrates, across all ecological niches. This three-year full-time course combines classroom learning and practical experience with a wide range of fieldwork opportunities. Course Content: This course provides an excellent grounding in all aspects of modern zoology and allows opportunities to focus on animal behaviour, conservation biology, ecology, evolution, genetics, human health and disease, neuroscience and physiology. The first year of the course introduces the student to the diversity of animals and their evolution along with a focus on the principles of ecology and genetics. Second year involves more specialization towards principled and applied areas of zoology and in the final year, the student can completely individualize their degree with their choice of optional modules based on interest.Key Modules: Some of the key modules include 'Animal Biology and Physiology', 'Ecology and Conservation', 'Evolution and Behaviour', 'Parasitology', 'Neuroscience' and an independent research project amongst others. Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology for the purpose of meeting in part the academic and experience requirement for the Membership and Chartered Biologist (CBiol).
