The Outdoor Adventure and Environment undergraduate course at the University of Cumbria blends academic study with adventurous outdoor activity to achieve both personal development and professional qualification.Course Content: This three-year full-time course introduces students to a variety of academic skills and outdoor practices. It offers a balance between practical outdoor activities such as rock climbing, canoeing, and hiking, alongside theoretical studies of outdoor leadership, environmental awareness, research skills, and personal development. Students can also choose a six-month work placement in the second year of the course. Key Modules: The course includes modules such as Outdoor Practitioner, Natural Science, Adventure Tourism, Environmental Interpretation, Wild Places, Wet and Cold Environments, and Outdoor Leadership among others. Accreditations: While the course itself does not have specific accreditations, a variety of professional National Governing Body (NGB) qualifications are embedded into the course, such as Climbing Wall Award (CWA), Single Pitch Award (SPA), Mountain Leader (ML) Award, and British Canoe Union 2-Star Award.
