BA (Hons) Games Design

The Games Design course at the University of Cumbria is a three-year undergraduate degree programme that prepares students to join the exciting world of video game design and development. The course is designed to cultivate hands-on, practical skills, using industry-standard technology and software. Students will have the opportunity to create their own games and portfolios to pitch them to industry giants.Course Content: Throughout the programme, students will be exposed to all aspects of game design, including character development, digital artistry, 3D modelling, environmental design, animation, sound production, gameplay scripting and the business aspects of the industry.Key Modules: The course includes key modules such as Character Concept Design, Game Mechanics, Scripting for Games, Game Development Environment, Gameplay Design, Professional Development and Portfolio, Live Brief Response and Production, and Practice and Theory of Games.Accreditations: The course is also accredited by ScreenSkills, the industry-led skills body for the UK's screen-based creative industries, assuring students that the programme is informed by industry standards.Future Careers: Graduates have a broad range of career options within the gaming industry, including graphic designers, character designers, UI/UX designers, level designers, animators, sound designers, game developers, testers, and more.
