BA (Hons) Fine Art

The Fine Art undergraduate course offered by the University of Cumbria is designed for students who want to develop their artistic skills in an open-minded and collaborative environment. The course allows students to explore their artistic talents and cultivate their understanding of the fine arts, and subsequently, improve their ability to express themselves.Course Content: The course content focuses on both practical and theoretical learning. Students are encouraged to experiment with a range of shutters, lenses, and studio lighting equipment to perfect their art. This is complemented by theoretical learning where students gain an understanding of contemporary and historical art contexts.Key Modules: Key modules include Art Practice, Contextual Studies, Professional Practice, Collaborative Practice, Negotiated Studies and Final Practice, in which students conduct a self-directed investigation into a subject or theme of particular interest.Future Careers: After completing this course, students can work as artists-in-residence, exhibition coordinators, gallery assistants, curators, teachers, or community art workers.
