BEng (Honours) Chemical Engineering

The Beng (Honours) Chemical Engineering course at Sheffield Hallam University is a full-time program designed to prepare students for a professional career in the chemical or process industries. Besides gaining the technical knowledge, students get a chance to deepen their understanding and develop the necessary skills for planning, specification, design, operation, and maintenance of the chemical process plant.Course Content: The course content covers a wide range of disciplines including chemical engineering principles, technology and systems of chemical and petroleum industries, material and energy balances, thermodynamics, fluid flow and heat transfer, organic and inorganic chemistry, sustainability and process safety, separation processes and reaction engineering, and process design project.Key Modules: Key modules include Mathematics, Principles of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Organic Chemistry, Material and Energy Balances and Thermodynamics, Fluid Flow and Heat transfer, Process Safety and Sustainability, and Process Design Project among others. Accreditations: The program is accredited by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) on behalf of the Engineering Council. This enables students to advance towards achieving Incorporated Engineer and Chartered Engineer status after graduating.Future Careers: Graduates from this program are equipped for a career in the chemical, process, and allied industries. They can work in various roles such as process engineer, product engineer, production manager, technical service manager, project engineer, energy manager, or plant engineer, among other roles.
