BA (Honours) Professional Policing

Sheffield Hallam University offers a BA Honours in Professional Policing, a full-time course designed to equip students with the knowledge, understanding and key skills necessary for a career in the police service. The course is based on the National Policing Curriculum and provides in-depth, comprehensive training on the roles and responsibilities of the police and related areas, making students job-ready upon graduation.Course Content: The course involves studying the structure of the criminal justice system, community policing and crime prevention theories, as well as learning about diversity and human rights. Students also participate in practical elements including undertaking mock crime scene investigations, role playing as police officers during simulated incidents and presenting evidence in moot courts.Key Modules: The course encompasses a range of core modules including Foundations for Policing, Crime Investigation Skills, Understanding Criminal Behaviour, Policing and Community Safety, Evidence Law for Investigators, and Policing in a Digital Age.Accreditations: The course meets all the requirements of the pre-join Degree in Professional Policing and is licensed by the College of Policing.Future Careers: Graduating from the course can lead to a career in the police, Home Office, prison service, probation service, third sector organizations, private security, or further academic study.
