BA (Honours) Product Design

The BA Honours Product Design course at Sheffield Hallam University is a full-time program that nurtures creative talent and hones practical design skills. This is accomplished through a combination of work that involves hands-on making, to digital design and prototyping, and the study of design in social and cultural contexts. The program also exposes students to business essentials, and all aspects of product design - from conception to the final commercial product.Course Content: This program covers areas such as design theory and practice, CAD and model making, design ethics, patenting and intellectual property, technology in design, materials and processes, and marketing and business strategy.Key Modules: Design Fundamentals, Materials and Processes, Generating Ideas, Concepts and Propositions, Design Detailing, Manufacturing for Design, Major Project - Product Design.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED) and fulfils the educational requirements for you as a registered product designer.Future Careers: This course sets students up for a range of careers including product designer, CAD technician, industrial designer, design engineer, project manager, and design consultant among others.
