BA (Honours) Fine Art

The BA Honours Fine Art course at Sheffield Hallam University allows students to flex their creative muscles in a studio-based environment, alongside professional artists and designers. The course focus is on idea generation, material experimentation and contextual awareness.Course Content: The course content is designed to allow students to create a personal and professional portfolio relevant to their chosen specialism. Engaging with contemporary fine art research, students will develop the ability to articulate thoughts and ideas, manage their own workloads, and take an entrepreneurial approach to their practice. The course also includes optional experience in studios and exhibitions in Sheffield. Key Modules: Modules taken during this course offer a deep dive into subjects like Visual Culture: Reading Images, Essential Fine Art Skills, Articulation of Process and Practice, Public Art and Curation, Studio Practice and a Dissertation Project.Accreditations: The course employs professors who are members of the Association of Art Historians and the University Gallery is an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation.Future Careers: Aspiring artists will be equipped for diverse career paths including being a fine artist, gallery curator, illustrator, art therapist, arts administrator or teacher.
