This course provides a deep understanding of biological processes, allowing you to develop a range of sought-after skills for roles in both biological and non-biological industries.Course Content: This course is spanned over 3-4 years and covers a wide range of topics. The first year provides a foundation in biological sciences, encompassing key principles and concepts such as genetics, human biology, microbiology, and ecology. The second and third years provide an in-depth understanding and critique of biological concepts with optional modules to discover both the application and impact of biological science on everyday life. A Professional Training placement also provides valuable industry experience. Key Modules: Some key modules of the course include - in the first year: Introduction to Biological Chemistry, Microbiology, Human Physiology, and Diversity of Life. For subsequent years, the key modules include (but are not limited to) Genetics and Genomics, Human Immunology, Pathology and Therapeutics, Animal Behaviour, Conservation and Ecological Economics, Wildlife Forensics, and Toxicology, amongst others.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology for the purpose of meeting in part the academic and experience requirement for the Membership and Chartered Biologist (CBiol).Future Careers: This BSc in Biological Sciences can lead to a vast range of career opportunities, from biomedical research to forensic science, not forgetting roles in health agencies, environmental agencies, and the pharmaceutical industry.
