MSc Finance and Investment Management

The Finance and Investment Management postgraduate programme from the University of Aberdeen offers a mix of financial theory and professional, disciplined, investment practice which provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the international finance and investment industry. The focus of this course is on financial markets, the analysis and management of financial intermediaries and their interaction between them.Course Content: In the Finance and Investment Management course, students will study a variety of topics including theoretical concepts of finance and investment, practical applications of financial management, financial securities, risk management, portfolio theory and investment analysis, management of financial intermediaries, banking, and as well as the concept of sustainable investment. Key Modules: The core modules of this course include Managerial Finance, Strategic Corporate Finance, Portfolio Theory and Management, Professional Finance, and Venture Capital and Private Equity. Optional Modules include Derivatives, Emerging Financial Markets, Qualitative Research Methods, and Empirical Methods in Accounting and Finance.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and gives exemptions to their IF1, P92, FA1, and FA7.Future Careers: Graduates from the Finance and Investment Management course can progress into roles such as Investment Banker, Stockbroker, Financial Analyst, Investment Analyst, Corporate Treasurer, and Financial Manager.
