The University of Aberdeen is launching a new combined Masters Degree in Artificial Intelligence and Law starting September 2022. The course is a partnership between the university's Law School and the School of Natural and Computing Sciences. It is designed to provide an advanced understanding of legal issues associated with AI, big data and privacy law, and how these interact with intellectual property law, competition law and human rights.Course Content: The programme content combines law and AI, covering key legal issues and how they intersect with new technologies. The curriculum also encompasses laws related to privacy, intellectual property, competition, and human rights in connection to AI and Big Data. AI modules will cover building AI models, interpreting their decions and using them to assist in legal decision-making. Key Modules: The course includes modules such as Law of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, Intellectual Property Law, Privacy and Data Protection Law, Introduction to Computing Science and AI, AI for legal decision making, and Human Rights and AI. Future Careers: The in-depth legal and AI expertise gained from this course can be applied in areas such as law firms specialising in tech law, technology companies with in-house legal departments, regulatory bodies, and non-governmental organisations.
