The Petroleum Engineering BEng (Five Years) at University of Aberdeen is a full-time course which aims to provide students with a comprehensive foundation in the key aspects of petroleum engineering. The course is applied in nature and is directly relevant to the needs of the petroleum industry.Course Content: The course includes modules in mathematics, dynamics, materials, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, geology, drilling, reservoir engineering, and production technology among others. The programme is divided into 4 to 5 years with each year increasing the level of complexity and sophistication in the study of petroleum engineering. Key Modules: The key modules of the programme include Subsurface, Well Engineering & Production Technology, Heat Transfer & Thermofluids, Engineering Deformation and Engineering Materials, Fundamentals of Petroleum Chemistry, Fundamentals of Drilling Engineering, and Production Technology among others.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Energy Institute, on behalf of the Engineering Council, for meeting the requirements for Further Learning for registration as a Chartered Engineer. Candidates must hold a CEng accredited BEng/BSc (Hons) undergraduate first degree to comply with full CEng registration requirements.Future Careers: Graduates of this programme often enter engineering and leadership positions within the global Petroleum Industry, spanning the business, operations, and scientific research. There is also an increasing need for engineers with an understanding of petroleum engineering to work in other Energy industry sectors. For more information on this course, please visit the official course page here.
