The Mechanical Engineering with Business Management programme at the University of Aberdeen combines a rigorous technical education with teaching centred on principles and practices of management to produce engineering graduates who are adept at managing projects and leading groups. The course is full time and lasts for five years. Course Content: The course opens with fundamental sciences which support a fundamental understanding of engineering. This is followed by core engineering principles, and then the introduction of management topics in years 3 and 4. In the final year, students undertake an independent research project that combines the disciplinary areas and reflects the integrative nature of the programme. The course will eventually focus on Engineering Analysis and Design principles, Thermofluids and Mechanical behaviour of Materials, amongst other topics, whilst incorporating Introduction to Management, Marketing Management, Managing People at Work, and more.Key Modules: Important modules studied during the course include Fundamentals of Engineering Materials, Fundamental Engineering Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics, Design and Computing, Engineering Mathematics, Project Management, Statistics for Business Management, Managing People at Work, among others. Accreditations: The degree is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) as fully satisfying the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer.Future Careers: Graduates from this programme are in demand in the oil and gas industry, automotive, aerospace, sustainability, general manufacturing, and beyond. They stand out due to their ability to couple strong engineering principles with an understanding of the complexities and dynamics of running a successful business. For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
