The Chemical Engineering BEng programme at the University of Aberdeen offers students the opportunity to prepare for a career in the chemical engineering industry, teaching them the skills and knowledge needed to design, construct and operate industrial processes. This course provides a strong foundation in maths and the physical sciences as well as a broad understanding of the principles of chemical engineering. Course Content: The programme covers topics such as process design and control, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics and reaction engineering. A key part of the programme also involves understanding how economic factors influence the design of industrial processes and how safety and environmental concerns are integral to all stages of process design and operation.Key Modules: The first two years provide a foundation in mathematics, physical, chemical, and biological sciences. Core chemical engineering subjects are introduced in year three, including Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow, Separation Processes, and Process Control. The final year deepens understanding in Process Analysis, Reaction and Chemical Thermodynamics, Process Safety, and Economics.Accreditations: The Chemical Engineering BEng is accredited by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) under licence from the UK regulator, the Engineering Council.Future Careers: Graduates from the course have gone on to work in a variety of roles including process engineer, production engineer, project engineer, chemical engineer, and environmental engineer. Many graduates also choose to continue their studies with a postgraduate degree in a related field. For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
