The Legal Studies and Politics (ML12) undergraduate degree offered by the University of Aberdeen is a joint honours programme that offers an insight into the relationship between law, policy and politics, both domestic and international. The course examines legal principles and theories in depth, while simultaneously gaining an understanding of political systems and governmental theories.Course Content: The course begins with a study of the core principles of law and politics, providing a foundation for further studies. As the course progresses, students can specialize in areas of interest through optional modules. Areas of special focus can include European Law, Human Rights, International Law, Political Philosophy, Representation and Democracy, Comparative Politics and many other topics.Key Modules: Some of the core, compulsory modules include Legal Systems, Legal Method, Law and the State, Foundations of Politics, Introduction to Comparative Politics and Introduction to Political Theory. Accreditations: Graduates of the ML12 programme gain an LLB (Honours) degree and are accredited by the Law Society and Faculty of Advocates in Scotland.Future Careers: The programme provides students with opportunities in various career sectors.
