The Law with English Law course at the University of Aberdeen is an innovative four-year degree programme that allows students to undertake a qualifying law degree in Scotland, whilst also offering a thorough examination of the English legal system. This dual perspective allows for a rich and comprehensive understanding of legal systems on both sides of the border.Course Content: The course comprises both Scottish Law and legal aspects from the English legal system. In the first three years, students learn the fundamentals of Scottish law including Obligations, Public Law, Legal Systems, Crime and Evidence, Property, and Commercial Law. In their final year, students university-owned Marischal College, to study English law.Key Modules: Key modules include 'Foundations of Contract Law', 'Constitutional Law', 'EU Law', 'Delict and Unjustified Enrichment', 'Company Law', 'Family Law', and 'Commercial Law and Aspects of Intellectual Property'. In the final year, students will study 'English Legal System and Method', 'Law of Contract', Tort Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law, and Criminal Law from an English perspective.Accreditations: The degree is recognised by the Law Society of Scotland and also enables graduates to proceed to the legal profession in England and Wales upon completion of certain exams.Future Careers: With the unique and comprehensive understanding that this course provides, graduates are ideally placed to work in legal practices throughout the UK.
